Planning the design for an e-commerce website requires a little bit more effort then designing for other types of websites for instance, a blog, mainly because there are many more different web pages to plan for.
Take this blog, AzharKamar.com, for example. I had to conceptualize just 3 pages – the home page, the category page and the single post page. As for my e-commerce site, Shawpy.com, I had to think about the home page, the product listing (or category) page, the single product page, the login page (in some cases), the register page, the user account pages and article pages.
That’s a fair bit of additional pages to work on, and if you’re working on your very own online store, some inspiration would definitely be of good help. For me, I referred to a few brilliantly designed e-commerce sites like Threadless and Archiduchesse for my inspiration.
One important thing to note is the e-commerce software (if any) a certain site you are getting inspiration from is using, so that you know whether your design mockups can easily be converted into code (during website production).
So here’s a list of 30 awesome e-commerce website designs for your inspiration. The e-commerce software used (if any) is also stated for your convenience.

I’ve always liked the Threadless website. It seems to me that the most effective e-commerce sites are mostly white.

@Freelance Illustrator, me too! Threadless.com’s interface is one of the most attractive and engaging among all the e-commerce sites out there.
