Having an eye-catching online portfolio is super-duper important for web designers like us. We designer dudes and dudettes should put in a lot of time and effort when crafting our website as this obviously, will be a very simple way to justify to your clients or interviewers how awesome you are without saying “I’m cool and awesome”. If you put in effort to make your portfolio look superb, you’ll be confident and they, will have confidence in you.

Alright, so here’s some nice portfolio sites where you can feast your eyes on and hopefully get some ideas out of ‘em.

Mediocore (David Arazim)
Neat minimal concept and cool illustration. He also uses great jQuery effects for the display of his works. And of course, I looove dark backgrounds.

Cassius
Ooo this is pretty stuff – Vibrant colors and some good ol’ photography. Sometimes, it just takes a good photo and then some good typography, and then *poof*, excellent design. Oh yeah and some creativity too.

Adham Dannaway
Big-sized text and graphics that make the whole thing look just great. I love this guy’s idea too – part designer, part coder.

Kev Adamson
Awesome grungy designs and cartoon illustrations. This guy uses a lot of jQuery effects and animations and does it very well. Sweeeeeet.

Malika Favre
This website is magnificently simple, using just animated GIFs within a grid layout, but has that classy and vintage touch that makes it superb. Almost all the images are vectors with flat colors. Nice.

Chris Spooner
This designer utilizes huge graphics/images and text very nicely, I loike. The grainy and watercolor effects are cool too, gives the site a bit more depth and texture.

Jason Reed
Nice handwritten logo design and self portrait painting on the right. That illustration is most probably done using a tablet. He cleanly arranges all information in one page using those sliding tabs.

Alexandru Cohaniuc
Nice grid layout and wrinkled paper concept (but it’s getting overrated nowadays). Well-used jQuery accordions and tooltips.

Richard McCoy
I like this British dude’s subtle grunge patterns and pencil sketches. And good choice for the web-friendly font too – “Bebas Neue Regular”.

Esti Landa
This girl’s clean fullscreen flash uses simple layout and color scheme beautifully. The thumbnails at the centre angles in perspective with the user’s mouse movements. It’s a bit cliche but I enjoy the zooming effect.

Efingo
One of the few nice monochrome sites. It’s not easy designing in grayscale and making it look awesome.
